Ayushmann Khurrana and Radhika Apte’s Andhadun remained rock steady in its first week. Although the film had a poor opening, excellent word of mouth helped it to gain the momentum from Saturday onwards. The film is facing competition from several movies and does not have a large number of screens.
As per the box office reports, the film earned 28.25 crore in the very first week. The daily collection during weekdays was more than the opening collection, which is very unusual at the box office even for a big movie. The moviegoers have given thumbs up to the movie, so new releases might not be able to affect its collection in the second week. The trend in the first week suggests that Andhadun will join the half-century club very soon and the lifetime collection may surpass 60 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the collection of the movie on twitter. “#AndhaDhun is SUPER STRONG… Continues to collect more on weekdays [vis-à-vis Day 1]… Look at the biz on Mon, Tue and Wed – it’s FANTASTIC… Fri 2.70 cr, Sat 5.10 cr, Sun 7.20 cr, Mon 3.40 cr, Tue 3.50 cr, Wed 3.25 cr. Total: ₹ 25.15 cr. India biz“, he wrote.

Another release LoveYatri did not find many takers and will finish its box office yatra (journey) after the first week. Although it earned about 10.25 crore in the first week, the trend during the weekdays was very negative. The film should garner 14-15 crore in its lifetime.
