New Nighttime Map Released By ‘National Geographic’ Shows India Has Brightened Dramatically

A nighttime map released by National Geographic, based on satellite imagery released by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), has revealed that the Indian government’s rural electrification project and the renewable energy initiative have been immensely successful. The map, comparing satellite data from 2012 and 2016, reveals where the planet has dimmed or brightened. (more…)

Indian Bodybuilder Bhumika Sharma Wins Miss World Bodybuilding Title in Venice

Video : Hima Das Creates History | Wins Gold Medal in Women’s 400m Event at IAAF World U-20 Athletics Championships

On Thursday (July 12, 2018), Hima Das scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to win the gold medal in the women’s 400-metre event at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland. Hima registered a time of 51.46 seconds in the final at the Ratina Stadium to become the first Indian athlete to win gold in a world championship across all age groups. Andrea Miklos of Romania took silver with a personal best time of 52.07 seconds. Taylor Manson of the US registered 52.28 seconds to finish third. (more…)

INS Kurusura Submarine Museum – Asia’s First Submarine museum in India

INS Kursura (S20) was a Kalvari-class diesel-electric submarine of the Indian Navy. She was India’s fifth submarine. Kursura was commissioned on 18 December 1969 and was decommissioned on 27 February 2001 after 31 years of service. She participated in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, where she played a key role in patrol missions. She later participated in naval exercises with other nations and made many goodwill visits to other countries. (more…)

Chitrakote Falls in Chhattisgarh | Niagara Falls of India

The Chitrakote Falls is a natural waterfall located to the west of Jagdalpur, in Bastar district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh on the Indravati River. It is located at a distance of 38 kilometers to the west of Jagdalpur. The height of the falls is about 29 meters. It is the widest fall in India. Swachh Bharat Survey : Indore the Cleanest City

Jharkhand is the cleanest state in India followed by Maharashtra and Chattisgarh, according to the report, which was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Indore on Saturday. Indore emerged as the cleanest city, followed by Bhopal and Chandigarh in the government’s cleanliness survey. The results of Swachh Survekshan 2018, which aims to estimate levels of cleanliness across cities in the country, were announced today by Minister of State for Housing Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday. Varanasi, PM Modi’s parliamentary constituency, was ranked 29 among the list of 500 cities.
