Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter’s Dhadak witnessed a good number of footfalls in theaters on its opening day. The film has been produced by Karan Johar, so a big opening number was always on the cards. Also, it is a remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat and marks the debut of late Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor.
As per the box office reports, the film amassed 8.71 crores on its first Friday at the box office. Many critics have given good ratings to the movie and word of mouth publicity is also good, so we are expecting it to go beyond 28 crores in its opening weekend.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the film’s first-day business figures and compared it with the first-day collection of Student Of The Year (2012). “#Dhadak takes a HEROIC START… Rarely does a film starring absolute newcomers open so well… Day 1 is higher than #StudentOfTheYear [₹ 8 cr]… Fri ₹ 8.71 cr. India biz.“, he wrote.
The opening collection of Dhadak is bigger than Karan Johar’s SOTY which also had all new faces. While Student Of The Year featured Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Sidharth Malhotra, Dhadak starred Janhvi and Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother Ishaan Khatter. Dhadak is directed by Shashank Khaitan who has earlier directed films like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
The box office collection of the film is as follows:
Friday (Day 1): ₹ 8.71 cr
Total: ₹ 8.71 cr
