Gold and Satyameva Jayate Have Humongous Opening on Independence Day

Akshay Kumar’s Gold and John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate have started with a bang at the box office. Both the films had one of best openings of the year and have potential to become the biggest grossers for their respective lead actors.Gold and Satyameva Jayate Have Humongous Opening on Independence Day Gold is running on 3050 screens whereas Satyameva Jayate is running on 2500 screens. Average critics ratings for Gold is 3.5 and that for Satyameva Jayate is 2.5. Both the films have excellent word of mouth publicity which means they will sustain during the long weekend. From the pre-release buzz, it was obvious that both the films will definitely benefit because of the holiday.
For Gold, the morning shows started with 55-65% occupancy and later it reached 85-90%. For Satyameva Jayate, the morning shows started with 40-45% occupancy and later it reached 75-80%. Because of the holiday, the ticket price has also been hiked. So, both films will become the biggest openers for their respective leads. Using the occupancy, the number of screens, and ticket price, if we apply maths, first day collection of Gold should be 25-28 crores and that of Satyameva Jayate should be 14-18 crores. The combined collection may become the biggest day one collection in the history of Bollywood movies.
