After an unexpected drop on Thursday, Akshay Kumar’s Gold picked up the pace on Friday in the evening shows. The positive word of mouth helped the film to post about 30% growth on its third day at the box office. Also, it took a decent lead over its competitor Satyameva Jayate on Friday.
As per the box office reports, the film amassed about 10.50 crores on first Friday to take its total domestic box office collection to 43.75 crores after 3 days. The film is not a solo release, so a double-digit collection on a working day is really a good accomplishment. It was lagging in small cities in the first two days, but the collection witnessed momentum in those regions on Friday. The early trend on Saturday is very encouraging and there is a possibility of 15 crores because Satyameva Jayate is not trending well in multiplexes in big cities.
A Reema Kagti directorial, Gold is based on the tale of the Olympic gold victory of Indian Field Hockey team, the first one as an independent nation. Akshay Kumar plays the manager of the team Tapan Das. The movie also stars Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh, and Sunny Kaushal.
The business of the film is as follows:
Wednesday (Day 1): ₹ 25.25 cr
Thursday (Day 2): ₹ 8.00 cr
Friday (Day 3): ₹ 10.50 cr
Total: ₹ 43.75 cr
