Akshay Kumar’s latest release Gold has been underperforming at the box office since Thursday because of competition. Although the film managed a decent growth from Friday onward, it will lose at least 15 crores in its first weekend due to Satyameva Jayate. It is not getting the desired numbers from small cities and single screens. The collection is totally dependent on multiplexes in big cities.
As per the box office reports, the film earned about 12.70 crores on Saturday to take its total domestic box office collection to 56.45 crores after 4 days. The film has been growing after the debacle on Thursday, however, the collection is not up to the mark. The Sunday collection will take the movie to 70-72 crores, so the lifetime will depend on weekdays earnings. There is no big release for the next 2-3 weeks, but Akshay Kumar’s previous big hits have always underperformed from second week onward. So, Gold might not be able to put a big total in its lifetime.
The business of the film is as follows:
Wednesday (Day 1): ₹ 25.25 cr
Thursday (Day 2): ₹ 8.00 cr
Friday (Day 3): ₹ 10.50 cr
Saturday (Day 4): ₹ 12.70 cr
Total: ₹ 56.45 cr
