Akshay Kumar’s sports drama Gold missed its century by a few lakhs in the second weekend. Facing competition from 3 movies, the film failed to get the required number of footfalls to join the 100 crores club. A large percentage of its collection has come from multiplexes in the big cities. Hence the film is struggling to garner a decent collection on weekdays.
As per the box office reports, the film earned approx. 9.60 crores in the second weekend to take its total domestic box office collection to approx. 99.65 crores after 12 days. The collection on second Monday is expected to be between 50 lakhs and 1.15 crores, so it will score the century on the thirteenth day. The film has lost about 20-25 crores because of not getting a solo release. It was expected to cross 150 crores, but the release of Satyameva Jayate on the same date devastated its dream at the box office. The lifetime collection is heading towards 110-115 crores. The budget of the film is about 65 crores, so it should earn HIT tag at the end of its box office run.
The business of the film is as follows:
Week 1: ₹ 90.05 cr
Friday (Day 10): ₹ 1.80 cr
Saturday (Day 11): ₹ 3.10 cr
Sunday (Day 12): ₹ 4.70 cr
Total: ₹ 99.65 cr
