Rishi Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu starrer Mulk found no takers in its first weekend at the ticket counters despite getting good ratings from movie critics. It is one of the movies where terrorists are shown as innocent victims and the majority is shown as evil whose forced them to become terrorists. Anyway, moviegoers have rejected such stupid agenda based movie which is very far from the reality.
As per the box office reports, the film collected 6.80 crores in its first weekend. The film fared well in Muslim dominated areas in UP and failed in almost every other regions. If it had got more single screens, it would have done much better. An awful first weekend insinuates that the movie will find it hard to touch even 15 crores mark in its lifetime.
Starring Rishi Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Prateik Babbar, Rajat Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana in important roles, Mulk is about a Muslim family that is fighting to save its dignity and honor in society after one of its members turns out to be a terrorist.
The box office collection of the film is as follows:
Friday (Day 1): ₹ 1.45 cr
Saturday (Day 2): ₹ 2.35 cr
Sunday (Day 3): ₹ 3.00 cr
Total: ₹ 6.80 cr
