Director Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt, Sanju, starring Ranbir Kapoor, has crossed Rs 500 crores in worldwide earnings in only 14 days. The film released three weeks ago on June 29 and crossed 300 crores mark in the Indian market on third Saturday. It is now heading towards a big total in its lifetime.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to give the full break up.
“#Sanju continues its DREAM RUN… Crosses ₹ 500 cr mark worldwide [Gross BOC] after Week 2… Breakup:
India Nett BOC: ₹ 295.18 cr
India Gross BOC: ₹ 378.43 cr
Overseas Gross BOC: ₹ 122 cr
Worldwide Gross total: ₹ 500.43 cr“, he wrote.
The film is fourth on the list of films with the biggest opening week collections. Baahubali 2 is at the first position with Rs 246 crore while Salman Khan’s Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai are at the second position and third positions with Rs 208 crore and Rs 206 crore collections, respectively.
The film might have been slammed by the critics for whitewashing Dutt’s image, but it’s Sanjay Dutt’s controversial life story that’s still attracting the audience to the theatres. Ranbir, who has delivered the biggest hit of his career with Sanju, is being widely praised for his earnest portrayal of Bollywood’s bad boy. Apart from Ranbir, ‘Sanju’ also stars Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza, Paresh Rawal, Vicky Kaushal and Manisha Koirala.
