Despite getting only 2500 screens, John Abraham’s latest action flick Satyameva Jayate set the box office on fire on day 1. Like the other release Gold, Satyameva Jayate also got good ratings from some of the critics. The film has a tough competition from Akshay Kumar’s Gold at the ticket counters, but it made the most of the holiday on its opening day.
As per the box office reports, the film amassed about 20.52 crores on its first day at the domestic box office. It has a limited audience because it has received ‘A’ rating from the censor board. Also, a large percentage of its earning will come from small cities and single screens because multiplex audiences will prefer Gold to this film. It will witness some decline in the collection on Thursday in cities because it’s not a holiday but its earning from single screens should remain intact.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the collection of the film. He wrote, “#SatyamevaJayate springs a BIG SURPRISE… Plexes are good, but single screens are ROCKING… Fri ₹ 20.52 cr. India biz.”
The film has become the biggest opener for John Abraham and it has enough gas to become the biggest solo hit for the actor too. The film’s primary plot revolves around John Abraham’s character, who plays a vigilante who takes it upon himself to bring justice to those who cannot protect themselves. Satyameva Jayate also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Aisha Sharma and Amruta Khanvilkar in pivotal roles.
The business of the film is as follows:
Wednesday (Day 1): ₹ 20.52 cr
Total: ₹ 20.52 cr
