Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s satirical horror comedy Stree has surpassed all predictions of trade pundits to become a HIT movie of 2018. Despite facing competition from several new and old releases, the film has not shown any sign of tiredness at the ticket windows in first eight days.
As per the box office reports, the film collected 4.39 crore on second Friday to take its total domestic box office collection to 64.78 crore after eight days. The trend in the second weekend indicates that the movie might touch the 80 crore mark by the end of the second weekend.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the collection of the movie, “#Stree withstands the opposition from new Hindi releases… Expected to witness big growth on Sat + Sun… Should cross ₹ 75 cr on Sun [Day 10]… [Week 2] Fri 4.39 cr. Total: ₹ 64.78 cr. India biz.”.
This week Stree is facing competition from four releases – Laila Majnu, Paltan, Gali Guleiyan, and The Nun. Although a half-dozen movies will release on next Friday, Stree should continue its march to hit a century in the third week.
The box office collection of the film is as follows:
Week 1: ₹ 60.39 cr
Friday (Day 8): ₹ 4.39 cr
Total: ₹ 64.78 cr
