Sultan Has Poor Opening Week in China

Salman Khan’s Sultan, which is one of the top grossers in India, failed to perform in the Chinese market. The film was competing with Hollywood biggies and Chinese moviegoers did not like the fictional story of the movie. The Indian movies that have worked at the Chinese box office have realistic scripts.  The fact that Salman Khan’s character manages to secure Gold at Olympics by merely training for 30 days may have created a disconnect between the film and the Chinese audience.Sultan Has Poor Opening Week in China

As per the box office reports, the film earned $4.53 mn in its first week at the Chinese box office. The trend in the first week is definitely not encouraging for the film, so it will fail to post a decent total in its lifetime. The film is heading towards $5-6 mn [~40 crores] in its lifetime in the Chinese market.
