Although Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs of Hindostan crossed 125 crore figure in its first week, it failed to meet the box office expectations. The film had the biggest release and the ticket price was also increased by 20-40%. Despite all these positives, the film could not make the best of the solo festive release. After scoring a half-century on its opening day, it did not find many takers starting from the second day.
As per the box office reports, the film earned 134.95 crore in its first extended week. About 38% of the total collection came from the first day, which shows the movie was rejected by moviegoers. The film has been declared debacle by trade pundits and it will not be able to recover its cost through box office collection. Looking at the current trend at the ticket windows, it seems that it might not cross even 150 crore in its lifetime.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film minted Rs 2.30 crore and is only lingering at the ticket counters. In his tweet he wrote, “#ThugsOfHindostan – #Hindi: Thu 50.75 cr, Fri 28.25 cr, Sat 22.75 cr, Sun 17.25 cr, Mon 5.50 cr, Tue 4.35 cr, Wed 3.50 cr, Thu 2.60 cr. Total: ₹ 134.95 cr.
